

Zambia under -20 squad remembers Gabon air disaster Heroes
The Total Africa Cup of Nations Junior Champions, Zambia under-20 squad, paid their respects to the Zambia national team that perished in an air crash off the coast of Gabon on April 28, 1993 by laying wreaths at Gabon Air Disaster memorial park. To their departure to the Junior World Cup to be held in South Korea in May, 2017.
The Junior Chipolopolo are due to depart to Spain on 3rd May, 2017 for the training cup in preparation for the Junior FIFA World Cup in South Korea taking place in May.
The 21 man squad of talented youngsters have rekindled Zambian’s memories of one of the country’s greatest squads that died in the 1993 fateful air crash on their way to a World cup Match with Senegal. The symbolism of laying wreaths by the youngsters prior to their departure for the Junior World Cup could not be lost. It was to draw inspiration from the spirits of the departed heroes.
When laying wreaths, the junior Chipolopolo donned the T-shirts of the Footballers and Allied Workers Union of Zambia (FAWUZ) which read, “ Fallen Heroes Remembered; Gone but not Forgotten”.
